Just outside Montpellier, the Château de l’Engarran in Lavérune (an 18th-century historical monument classed as a “folie”) is open every day, so you can peruse its vine and wine museum and see the tools and machinery used in the vineyards and the château wine cellar.
The museum recounts how wine used to be made at Engarran in days gone by.
Entry is free and you can wander around on your own or take a guided tour. There is a quiz for children, a drawing workshop, a collection of costumes, regional produce and temporary exhibitions. This little museum is the perfect way to finish off a visit to the estate.
The tasting cellar is an opportunity to try wines from the Château de l’Engarran and Languedoc regional produce.
