The mystery of Picasso’s work can be attributed to his continuously evolving transformations. He is the prolific artist whose style is both instantly recognisable and yet so extraordinarily elusive.
The exhibition Picasso - Donner à voir presents a dozen or so milestone moments from which a new form, a new style, new processes emerge. It brings together an ensemble of masterpieces that
pinpoint the start of a fresh direction in his artistic practice, rounded out with archive documents and preparatory drawings to produce a snapshot and an analysis of his transformation in action.
This selection of works will be displayed in an open-plan exhibition format that is conducive to identifying connections between the different stages of his artistic practice.
Initiated by the Musée national Picasso-Paris, “Picasso-Méditerranée” is an international cultural event which will be held from Spring 2017 to Spring 2019. Over sixty cultural institutions have come together to conjure up a programme around the work “obstinément méditerranéenne” of Pablo Picasso.
