CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION "EVERYTHING IS CHAOS" BY AÏCHA SNOUSSI

"Everything is chaos" by Aïcha Snoussi, a contemporary art exhibition in dialogue with the permanent collection of the Lattara archaeological site-Henri Prades museum, from November 19, 2022 to April 3, 2023.

Opening the doors of the archaeological collections to contemporary creation is one of the specificities of the Lattara archaeological site-Henri Prades museum which invites, each year, an artist to immerse themselves in the permanent route of the museum. The resulting exhibition establishes a fruitful dialogue between contemporary works of art, most of them produced on this occasion, and those discovered during archaeological excavations.

Their voices in chorus resound, this night. Everything is chaos. This sentence coming out of a thousand deployed throats is transformed into a song of struggle, transmitted from generation to generation. The echo goes back much further, millennia, when the first peoples of water and sands sang. Around queer archaeology, Aïcha Snoussi imagines the story of a vanished civilization on the Mediterranean coast.

Through the khàos - the flaw - his work cracks gaps in official narratives to accommodate other narratives. Mirroring the objects of the museum, new vestiges tell of these bodies which still sing under the sea.
