Founded in 1982, the Frac Occitanie Montpellier is a public contemporary art collection, which now brings together over 1,200 pieces created by over 500 artists.
Representing the diversity of the issues raised by artistic creation since the 60s, the collection belongs to the Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée Région and is mainly intended to be exhibited in venues throughout the region, to provide the general public, whether informed or not, with the guarantee of a professional access to present-day artwork.
Educating the public as it comes into contact with the works in the Frac Collection is the fundamental mission of the Visitor and Educational Services : guided tours, meetings with artists, storytelling, Wednesday workshops, history of art courses – such are the many strategies that can provide everyone with an opportunity to discover and understand art.
