The Pont du Gard which dates back to the beginning of the Common Era (50 AD) is the tallest Roman bridge-aqueduct in the world standing at 48 m. high. This monument stands in a natural setting of 165 hectares of Mediterranean landscape and is easily accessible by shuttles from the Nîmes train station.
It was designed to convey water to Nîmes, showing the extraordinary know-how of Roman engineers.
