From July 1 to December 31, 2025, the Maguelone peninsula will host a tribute exhibition to Jean-Pierre Blanche (1927-2022), a major Mediterranean painter of the 20th century. Through a poetic stroll along the paths of the Cathedral Park, visitors are invited to take a fresh look at the landscape, guided by the artist?s sensibility and palette.
An open-air exhibition between sea, ponds and inspiration
A discreet and profound painter, Jean-Pierre Blanche has dedicated his life to pictorial creation, inspired by southern landscapes, everyday objects and the light of the coast. Trained at the Beaux-Arts de Montpellier and then in Paris, after Algeria and Lebanon he found an artistic refuge in the countryside around Aix-en-Provence and Puéchabon, where he painted from the motif before retranscribing the sensitive memory of his walks in the studio.
Les Compagnons de Maguelone, in partnership with the Association des Amis de Jean-Pierre Blanche, present a selection of reproductions of works that mark out a stroll through the grounds of Maguelone Cathedral. This artistic itinerary invites walkers to take a fresh look at Mediterranean landscapes, in resonance with the painter?s poetic eye.
