MONTPELLIER, DE L’OCCUPATION À LA LIBÉRATION EN 1944

The Tourist Office commemorated the 80th anniversary of the city's liberation in August 1944 with this tour.

Starting at the Faculty of Medicine, where your guide will evoke the involvement of academics in the Second World War, the tour will comment on the situation of the Jews and bring to life Montpellier under the Occupation through the testimonies of its inhabitants, as well as the key meeting between Pétain and Franco at the Prefecture.

Then, in the streets of the city, the feeling of resistance is born, with the evocation of the great names who led strong actions throughout the region.

Jean Moulin and his sister Laure will of course play an important role in this tour, which will also include a visit to the courtyard of the Hôtel de Rey, where they lived.
