The Garden of Five Continents, a garden-atlas imagined by Bertrand Lavier.
Bertrand Lavier, who was entrusted with the space in the park for the creation of a perennial work, worked on a garden in the shape of a world map, composed of plant species from all over the world, chosen in consultation with the gardener, landscape gardener, botanist and biologist Gilles Clément.
This project is essentially about duration, the natural time necessary for plant evolution over the seasons: planting, growth and evolution time, peaceful animals, without predators, slow... Two turtles will come to live in this living space.
The garden is divided into two parts: one penetrable and the other not. Signage designed by Bertrand Lavier uses the labelling codes of botanical gardens. A fountain with watering cans, also designed by the artist, fits into the centre of this planted atlas.
This garden, created for the MOCO, is the first ever created by the artist.
