We suggest you discover the Etang de Thau, departing from Montpellier, in a minibus, with a small group of 8 people maximum.
PROGRAM
Our day begins in Bouzigues, a pretty, peaceful village and oyster capital, where we'll take a boat out on the étang to discover its secrets and get up close to the oyster and mussel beds to understand how they are produced. This is known as conchyliculture.
After this appetizer, we'll head off to a producer's restaurant to sample fresh seafood from the pond, for a timeless moment with a magnificent view.
Then it's back on to the other side of the pond, to Sète, a maritime city of character, where we'll discover the last remaining traditional shipyard and its restoration of wooden sailing ships.
We'll round off the day with a visit to the fish auction in Sète's fishing port. You'll witness the return of the trawlers and their catch of the day, as they make their way to the auction room, where you'll discover how the fishmongers and restaurateurs buy their fish at auction.
Depending on the weather and your mood, we'll take a stroll along the streets and canals of Sète before heading home.
