On a plot of land directly adjacent to the camp wall, Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his wife Hedwig realize their vision of a dream life with a large family, a house and a large garden. However, when Rudolf is transferred to Oranienburg, their ideal life threatens to collapse, and he hides the information from his wife. When Hedwig finds out, she refuses to leave her dream home.
