Conference postponed to a later date
The University of Montpellier preserves one of the few known Soldatenbücherei in four of its original shipping crates bearing the Nazi eagle. This curious library, which houses several hundred books for leisure and entertainment - albeit in line with the regime - and a few volumes of Nazi propaganda, allows us to imagine the soldiers returning from their grim duties to enjoy a moment of peaceful reading.
A lecture by Matthieu Desachy. Archivist paleographer, doctor in medieval history, general curator of libraries, director of the Méjanes library and the Archives of the city of Aix-en-Provence.
In connection with the exhibition "Vivre la guerre en Hérault, 1939-1945" presented at Pierresvives from November 20, 2025 to May 9, 2026.
Free admission.
