In 2022, the Archives départementales de l'Hérault acquired the scientific fonds of the Roques family (sub-series 323 J), originally from Candillargues. Covering the period 1906-1999, this collection traces the history of a family involved in astronomy for two generations, first as enlightened amateurs, then as professionals.
Their deep and abiding commitment to the discipline reveals exceptional curiosity, ingenuity and technical skill. Through the observation notebooks, drawings, astrophotographs and scientific correspondence of Charles, Elisée and Jean-Marie Roques, this collection highlights the invaluable contribution that amateurs can make to astronomical research.
Come and find out more at Pierresvives with the exhibition "Observing the sky, revealing the invisible".
Open to all - Free admission
From September 9 to October 31, 2025, Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
