As part of the What A Trip! festival.
For me, travel means sharing experiences with people who shape and care for the land. I therefore chose to join local initiatives through platforms such as wwoofing, to get my hands dirty with people eager to pass on their knowledge of nature.
My exhibition, which grew out of my travel diaries, is based on the theme of the garden. Delimiting it, tending it and learning about its plants were all part of my volunteer experience with Thaïs and Aurelio in Dzoyaxché on Mexico?s Yucatán peninsula. Then, when I arrived in Colombia, I wondered about human integration in the wilderness of the Sierra Nevada region of the Caribbean.
One thing leading to another, I wove together my travel experiences, discoveries and language learning, with reflections and portraits of my hosts.
As an illustrator, I particularly focused on the abundance of tropical nature, which I transcribed onto paper using colored felt-tip pens and watercolors.
