Les belles rencontres des Arts du Récit. Pignan invites you to listen, tell stories, imagine and celebrate the living word

For its latest edition, Les Belles Rencontres des Arts du Récit returns for four days of emotion, sharing and creation, under the artistic direction of Kamel Guennoun, director, storyteller and lover of words that bring people together, and the Opus 31 association.

A program at the crossroads of voices: conceived as a veritable festival of contemporary orality, this year?s event once again invites storytellers, performing artists and poets to share their stories and visions of the world.

A program to be discovered from September 24 to 27 at various locations in the village, with free admission!

Wednesday, September 24th

10:30 am: "Pas d?Ours à Table!" by Annabelle Diep ? Very young audience (3-5 years / 30 mins)
Imagine? a huge, hungry bear pounces on YOUR cake and devours it whole! Luckily, the Bird is there to guide him along the storytelling path, and show him that villages are all about sharing.

"Pas d'Ours à Table? is a storytelling show where objects get involved and play with our imaginations: a feather bird, a very angry cook-wheel, a little woodland popcorn? It's all about smelling, eating, devouring and savoring. The audience is invited to savor the words at the storyteller's table.

3pm: young audience show with Kamel Guennoun (from 8 years / 40mns)
Caves du Château

Thursday, September 25th

4 full-length shows for this professional day from 10am to 5pm

open to the public

Friday, September 26th

8:30pm: Ceux de l?étang? with Marie Coums (storytelling with links to Occitan cultures)
In Ceux des étangs, I tell some extraordinary stories. But the most extraordinary thing is that all these stories happened in the same place. Dins un vilatge. A small village on the edge of a beautiful sea pond. A village where every evening a one-eyed raven takes off from the roof of the church, then disappears at the same hour behind the montanha petita. And nobody knows where he goes.

A village where Gisèle and Loulou, two old women known as "le jugement dernier", sow terror. Where Romégous, an old Spanish anarchist, drags his checked slippers and his dark ideas. Where, in the Place des Lilas, Maurice the garage owner is a giant with colossal strength, trapped in the stitches of the ever-too-small sweaters his mother knits for him.

But it's well known that there are some exceptionally fortunate circumstances that profoundly change the order of the world. No matter how small. Deep in a cave, an old woman sits on the floor, embroidering destinies on a large blue blanket as thick as night. Beside her, a big yellow dog. With a big yellow dog smile.

10:30 am: meeting at the Médiathèque ? lecture on the marvellous by Katherine PAULY: ?Conte merveilleux. The attractive strangeness?
Transmitted, analyzed, illustrated, criticized, adapted and endlessly revisited, Contes merveilleux are tales of strange flavors that have accompanied mankind since ancient times. They know us at the most intimate level. They're like mysterious messages we've sent ourselves, and we're amazed to discover that they contain more "intelligence" than we thought we had. This is because they have traveled far and wide, slowly, feeding off every experience, with their senses and hearts wide open. They are unafraid of strangeness, enchanted by the complexity of the world.

Nothing narrow is suitable for understanding a marvellous tale. To hear it, to pass it on, to experience it, you have to be ready to travel the vast territory of its variants and plunge into the depths of its images.

2:00 pm: "Mirabilia" show on the marvellous for children aged 12 and over, with Anne Tasei, Sandrine Guigonnet and Marie-Christine Cordier Coustalat

Sometimes, the veil of everyday life that conceals the depths of the world opens up. Then we understand the language of birds and trees alike, we cease to fear strangeness, we reach for the stars. The past and the future, the living and the dead come together. We have entered the realm of the marvellous: Mirabilia.

Médiathèque de Pignan with the Collectif des conteuses de l?Aude

5:00 pm > 6:30 pm: open stage for amateurs
7:00 pm > 9:30 pm: Apéro contes AOC with Sylvie Vieville, Catherine Caillaud, Marcel Dreux and Kamel Guennoun on the theme of gourmandise, humor and eroticism.

Parc du Château

ON-SITE CATERING

This program is a showcase for diversity: tales from near and far, intimate accounts, committed testimonies or imaginary fables? each contribution is an open door to a profoundly human elsewhere.

Kamel Guenoun, who is directing this year?s event, explains: "Storytelling is the invisible thread that binds us together. Through it, we don't just share stories: we build a collective memory, we reconnect with listening."

A grounded, open event

Les Belles Rencontres is fully in line with the city?s commitment to promoting access to culture for all, in an inclusive, intergenerational and intercultural approach.

More than a festival, this event becomes a space for dialogue, memory and shared imagination.
