We're all familiar, more or less, with flamenco or rumba. But how much do we really know about gypsies, the original nomadic people who have lived through a thousand years of history and discrimination, and whose communities, rich in singular cultures, can be found in the four corners of Europe?
Gypsies have been present in Montpellier since the early 20th century. Manitas de Plata, the Gipsy Kings, the heirs of the Baliardo family and many others have proudly carried Montpellier?s colors around the world. They are also among Halle Tropisme?s closest neighbors.
For the 5th edition of the Festival International Mosaïque Gipsy Bohème, the Cap Gély Figuerolles association and Tropisme pay tribute to the Gypsy people and celebrate Catalan Rumba! For four days, Cap Gély Figuerolles will hoist the gypsy flag at Halle Tropisme and invite us on a cultural voyage of discovery, with exhibitions, concerts, dance performances, horseback riding and much more.
