Gyutö monks are famous for their tradition of harmonic sounds. Over a slow rhythm, a deep, gravelly voice intones a recitative chant, followed by other voices in unison in the same harsh, muted register.
Gyutö Monastery is one of Tibet?s most famous monasteries, specializing in the study of Tantric meditation, Tantric ritual arts and Buddhist philosophy. Founded in 1474 in Tibet, after 1959 the monastery moved to Tenzingang and Dharamsala in India, where 500 monks reside.
