On Thursday November 27 at 8pm, at the Théâtre Municipal Jérôme Savary in Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone, author Alice Zeniter, accompanied by pianist Pablo Murgier, will offer a musical reading of her latest novel Frapper l?épopée.
Winner of numerous literary awards (including the Goncourt des Lycéens for L?art de perdre), Alice Zeniter explores New Caledonia?s colonial and prison past through the story of Tass, a young teacher who sets out to follow in the footsteps of two missing Kanak pupils. The novel questions the inequalities inherited from colonization, and resonates strongly with the recent troubles on the island in 2024.
In addition, a "Café décolonial" will be held on Friday November 28 at 7pm at Le Local in Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone, in the presence of the Ceini Hnyei association from Kanaky, to discuss post-colonial memories and narratives.
