The Italia a due passi association is pleased to invite you on March 8, 2026 at 2 p.m. to a beautiful afternoon to share under the sign of Italy, art, women?s rights and ecology:

2pm Madreperla exhibition (Claudia Montanari) + Zero Waste stand (Océan Protection France)
3pm Interactive game Women's rights: France ? Italy (Italia a due passi accompanied by musician-composer Jean-Michel Fournier, aka M.O.I) + Madreperla Video Art (Claudia Montanari accompanied by pianist Alessandra Agosti in an original creation)
4pm Mini-conference: Plastics, a new environmental disaster, but still the same inequalities (Xavier Cousin, eco-toxicologist, INRAE UMR MARBEC researcher)
5pm Friendship drink

Through her work, Claudia Montanari defends an art committed to the protection of living beings. Madreperla takes 4 works targeted by environmental activists and turns them on their head, in order to raise awareness of the choices now essential to safeguarding the planet.

These include highly original versions of Botticelli's Venus, Spring, Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Van Gogh's Sunflowers. Madreperla was the subject of a public art performance in Palavas: the Venus emerged from the waves of the Mediterranean covered in
plastic waste

In the video, Claudia Montanari imagines a letter read by a mysterious voice to Sandro Botticelli and his muse Simonetta Vespucci. The voice alerts the world to human folly. In the end, the voice turns out to be that of a sunflower painted by Van Gogh, speaking on his behalf.

For this March 8, Claudia Montanari has chosen to invite two representatives committed to protecting the environment: Océan Protection France, an association fighting against the plastification of seas and oceans since 2018, with a stand and its Zero Waste workshop; ecotoxicology researcher Xavier Cousin (INRAE, UMR MARBEC).

His mini-conference will help us understand the effects of the chemical substances contained in plastics, which reinforce inequalities: women, the poor and indigenous populations are the hardest hit.

Italia a due passi is a very active association in the Montpellier area. It offers a wide range of cultural activities, as well as Italian language and culture courses for all levels
