Creative workshops introduce children to ancient techniques and archaeological excavation.
After a historical presentation, children set out with tools and materials to reproduce the gestures of craftsmen of the past, or slip into the shoes of a modern-day archaeologist!

Monday, July 7, 2pm to 4pm
Introductory workshop to painted decorations on Greek ceramics: each child creates a black-figure decoration on a red background, or a red-figure decoration on a black background, on a terracotta dish, inspired by ancient motifs on vases on display in the museum.
Registration required, subject to availability. Ages 8 and up.

Friday, July 18, 9:30 am to 11:30 am
Introductory workshop to archaeological excavation techniques: after a tour of the museum?s archaeological reserves, children can try out excavation techniques in a reconstructed archaeological space. This workshop runs from 9.30am to 11.45am.
Registration required, subject to availability. Ages 8 and up.

Thursday, July 24, 2 pm to 4 pm
Introductory prehistoric painting workshop: each child creates a prehistoric painting depicting primitive animals in the style of Cro-Magnon man.
Registration required, subject to availability. Ages 7 and up.

Friday, July 25, 2pm to 4pm
Family workshop, 1 parent / 1 child. Come and share an introductory workshop in Roman mosaics with your child!
In pairs, you'll create an individual mosaic: design the motif, cut the stoneware tesserae, lay and glue on a wooden support.

Monday, July 28, 2 pm to 4 pm
Introductory workshop in Roman oil lamp making: each child uses bi-valve molds to make a clay oil lamp with antique motifs.
Registration required, subject to availability. Ages 8 and up.

Thursday, July 31, 2pm to 4pm
Family workshop, 1 parent / 1 child. Join your child in a workshop to make and decorate a Gallic shield.
In pairs, come and discover Celtic art through the making of a wooden Gallic shield and the creation of decorations inspired by genuine ancient iconography.
Registration required, subject to availability. Ages 7 and over, accompanied by a parent.

Monday August 4, 2pm to 4pm
Introductory Neolithic pottery workshop: each child creates a clay pot using the "assemblage au colombin" technique.
Registration required, subject to availability. Ages 7 and up.

Monday, August 11, 2pm to 4pm
Introductory prehistoric painting workshop: each child creates a prehistoric painting depicting primitive animals in the style of Cro-Magnon man.

Thursday, August 14, 2pm to 4pm
Introductory workshop to Languedoc earthenware painted decorations: after a presentation of earthenware manufacturing and decoration techniques from the Middle Ages to the 18th century, each child creates a blue and yellow cameo decoration on a white earthenware tile, inspired by ancient earthenware motifs.
Registration required, subject to availability. Ages 8 and up.

After collecting plants on the Lattara archaeological site, use a press to create original, personalized postcards.

Introductory workshop in Gaulish goldsmithing: each child creates a copper fibula with chased decoration.
