This illustrated concert is an invitation to a sonic and visual voyage around the mythical figure of ancient Egypt, Nefertiti. Born in the age of the pharaohs, her legendary beauty has stood the test of time thanks to the famous bust sculpted by Thoutmôsis, a true masterpiece of Egyptian antiquity. Her reign at the side of the powerful pharaoh Akhenaton and her mysterious disappearance have made her a subject of artistic and musical inspiration.
The four artists of Collectif Koa then imagined a musical and poetic vision around this feminine icon. Carried by the sensitivity of Caroline Sentis?s enchanting voice, the poetry of guitarist Patrice Soletti, the powerful bass of Alfred Vilayleck and the inventiveness of drummer Maxime Rouayroux, the music moves from a 14th-century Persian chant, to African rhythms, then to a flamenco bulería, all the while taking the path of free improvisation, song or even a crazy rock chorale. On screen, Olivier Bonhomme?s superb animated illustrations add a visual and poetic dimension to the concert. Young and old alike are carried away by the improvised music, as they discover this heroine from the past.
