For a day or more, I enjoy many discoveries with the City Card offered by the Tourist Office – Here’s how to have a good cultural or family stay while making the most of the advantages of your City Card!

You want to enjoy a cultural day ?

I start the day on the Place de la Comédie – After picking up my City Card (24h, 48, or 72h according to my wishes) at the Tourist Office, I head first to the Musée Fabre*, one of the most beautiful museums of France.

I take advantage of the permanent collections from the Middle Ages to the contemporary era, including some works by the famous Occitan painter Pierre Soulages!

I also have the chance to enjoy the current temporary exhibition for free.

Are you more Contemporary Art? Head to MO.CO. Hotel des Collections* near the train station for a free exploration of its exciting seasonal exhibitions.

Do you know “Art Brut”? Head to the Musée d’Art Brut in the Beaux-Arts district with thetramway line 2 to discover inspired and moving works (and it’s always free!)

At noon, you should opt for a lunch break at the Sushi Boat not far from Place de la Comédie – Enjoy the delicious sushi, gyozas or yakitoris! and with your City Card you get a discount on the bill.

*Most museums are free every 1st Sunday of the month, but some are closed on Mondays. Our visitor advisors can help you to choose the best way to discover them.

And in the afternoon?

In the afternoon several options: After consulting the current program, I choose to continue with a guided tour of the city center offered by the Tourist Office.

Indeed, with the City Card, I benefit from free admission on a selection of visits. Thanks to the “Historical Center Tour”, I discover in particular the magnificent view at the top of the Triumphal Arch and the intriguing Mikvé with its thousand-year-old history!

Fancy a nature break in the city? Head to the remarkable gardens of the Château de Flaugergues, an 18th century “Folie”.

I favour public transport: first tramway line 1 to Place de l’Europe then bus n°9 towards Grammont. The good news ? it’s free during 24hrs with my City Card.

A day with my family

With the whole family, we take tramway line 1 for free from the Place de la Comédie direction Odysseum (shopping and leisures center).

There we visit the Planet Ocean Montpellier to discover the oceans and the stars!

After this nice discovery, we benefit from discounts offered in the restaurants of Odysseum.

In the afternoon, we take the tram back to the city center and take part in a treasure hunt with the Mister Aventure box (available at with a discount only at the Tourist Office) – a good way to discover the city in a fun way!

Other options: we take tramway line 2 towards Sabines for a climbing session at Mad Monkey.

A few kilometers away from Montpellier, the Rochers de Maguelone invite us to adventure with the whole family !
