Saint Roch celebrations What is it ?

Every year around August 16th, Montpellier hosts the Saint Roch Celebrations, linked to the meetings organized by the International Saint Roch Association of Montpellier.

This event, open to all, welcomes not only thousands of pilgrims but also visitors and tourists from all over the world.

On the program for these days of celebration: circuit dedicated to Saint-Roch with guides from the Montpellier Tourist Office, international conference, processions, liturgical events, festive events in the streets…

The programme for 2024 (subject to change):

From the morning of the 15th and for the first time the possibility of a demonstration organised by the canine society and participation in the procession of the 132nd canine infantry regiment.

►On the morning of 15 August, there will be a demonstration of various canine activities.
►On 16 August, the big processions with the participation of Cettarames, the emblematic association of Sète, and the Barony of Caravètes, emblematic of Montpellier, both of whom have been with us from the start.

►On 15 and 16 August, historical parades and performances by the gruppo musici e sbandieratori of San Lorenzo d’Alba: a parade through the streets and squares of the Écusson. Performances at Place de la Comédie, Place de Compostelle, Peyrou, Place Saint-Roch…
One of the largest historical groups, one of the largest flag-throwing events in France, now linked to the Saint-Roch festivities, eagerly awaited by Montpellier residents and attracting countless tourists.

► All day long on 16 August, the streets and squares of the Écusson will be brought to life by Théo Pastor’s bandùra.
This ensemble of 15 musicians and dancers in the pure tradition of Provence takes us on a journey to the sounds of different instruments such as the Galoubet/ Tambourine, accordion, transverse flute, guitar, bagpipes.
