Heir to the Montpellier Law School founded in 1249, the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Montpellier is home to 6,000 students.

It was in the 12th century, following the example of medicine, that the teaching of law began to develop in Montpellier. Over the centuries, great names of students and professors have frequented this law faculty: Placentin, Jean Moulin, Auguste Comte, Charles Gide, Georges Frêche and author Paul Valéry.

In 1956, part of the faculty moved into the former 17th-century convent of the Visitandines.
A place rich in symbols and exceptional spaces such as the Salle des Actes, the visit will include a detour to the neighboring Rectorat to discover a painting depicting the great hours of Montpellier?s university.
