Every year, the Confluences association organises the Internationales de la Guitare festival in Montpellier and the surrounding area.
Les Internationales de la Guitare - En Occitanie is a festival that has been working in Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole and the Occitanie / Pyrénées - Méditerranée region on a cultural, economic and social level since 1996. The festival has been held in different parts of the region since 1999, and has been active in the towns and cities of the Metropole since 2005.
The festival's philosophy is to enable all audiences, whether initiated or not, to discover emerging and established artists from the four corners of the globe. The guitar is a transversal instrument, present in all cultures and at the root of all the musical revolutions of the 20th century. The guitar is therefore a key element in today's culture, enabling us to showcase a wide range of artists from different styles. Classical, Jazz, Folk, Rock, Pop, Electronic: music styles evolve, but the guitar remains. And the accessibility of the instrument reflects the festival's philosophy and artistic approach: eclecticism and popularity.
