Every year, the Confluences association organizes the International Guitar Festival in Montpellier and the surrounding region.
The International Guitar Festival - En Occitanie is a festival that has been promoting culture, the economy, and social cohesion in Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole and the Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée region since 1996. It has been decentralized across the region since 1999 and has been active in the heart of the metropolitan area's municipalities since 2005.
The festival's philosophy is to enable all audiences, whether knowledgeable or not, to discover emerging and established artists from all over the world. The guitar is a versatile instrument, present in all cultures and at the root of all the musical revolutions of the 20th century. The guitar is therefore a key element of today's culture and allows a wide range of artists from different styles to be showcased. Classical, jazz, folk, rock, pop, electronic music: music styles evolve, but the guitar remains. And the accessibility of the instrument is a good representation of the festival's philosophy and artistic direction: eclecticism and popularity.
