The Art Flau association and lecturer Odile Gancedo present a lecture on the painter Claude MONET as part of our 2026 lecture series at the Château de Flaugergues.
This year marks the hundredth anniversary of the death of Claude Monet (1840-1926).
This is an opportunity to present the life and work of Claude Monet, the "father of Impressionism". This lecture will take us through the artist's work, from his beginnings as a caricaturist to his final Water Lilies, bordering on abstraction.
Sometimes difficult, quick to anger and discourage, Claude Monet was a hard worker who didn't hesitate to defy the elements to practice his passion.
Monet summed up his life best when he said: "What is there to say about me? What can there be to say, I ask you, about a man who is interested in nothing in the world but his painting - and also his garden and his flowers?
