Gul Pamuck creates portraits of people she will meet one day, as if they appeared to her even before the encounter. These figures, emerging from her imagination, seem to precede reality, anticipating the moment of true encounter.
His love of storytelling manifests itself in a pictorial language rich in allegories, epics and surrealist visions. At the edge of lucid dream and reality, she infuses her everyday life with a marvellous dimension, where miracles become possible.
In her universe, the earth dialogues with people. Humans and animals take on the fairytale qualities characteristic of Gül Pamuk's world. This interaction lends his works a singular atmosphere, where the real and the imaginary merge.
Driven by a deep faith in karma and humanism, the artist weaves an art imbued with meaning and spirituality. Her dreamlike, vibrantly colored landscapes and stories are rooted in her own personality and in the Eastern heritage of the Bosphorus.
Her works are composed of meticulous detail, each element contributing to the whole composition. She claims a "Molieresque", even Baroque approach, where each fragment carries its own expressive charge, where the soul of the work is revealed in tension and detail.
His main challenge is to translate, in an appropriate pictorial language, fantasies nourished by lived experience, lucid dreams and memory processes. Each work thus becomes the reflection of an inner dialogue between memory, dream and reality.
After several years marked by a blue, melancholy tone, perceptible notably in Monsieur Croque-Mort, his work underwent a marked evolution following his move to Montpellier. Henceforth, a happier emotional climate was expressed, through subjects such as lovers, animals and the carnival. This transformation is closely linked to the influence of his Mediterranean environment: Sète, the sunlight and the sea.
