the Musée d'Art Brut in Montpellier presents an exhibition by artist Sabrina Gruss, born in Paris in 1958 into a family marked by exile and war. Nurtured by Ashkenazi and Sephardic culture, for over 40 years she has explored themes of identity, memory and trace through a strange, poetic universe. Based in Provence, she creates expressive sculptures from natural materials and timeworn objects, giving life to singular creatures.
A 1983 graduate of the Beaux-Arts d?Avignon art school, Sabrina Gruss has led a committed artistic career, working in sensitive neighborhoods, prisons and psychiatric hospitals since 1989. Her work, recognized in France and Europe, was awarded the Prix Paul Niclausse by the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2019.
