Occupations is Séverine Chavrier?s latest creation. The piece is based on a vast corpus of texts by female authors, from Marguerite Duras to Annie Ernaux, Elfriede Jelinek and Constance Debré. We find her scenic vocabulary, her relationship with texts and intense voices that search and digress, taut in a device of which she has the secret, which mirrors visible and hidden, ancient and contemporary, bookish and digital knowledge?
It's a question of feminine intimacy and desire at a time of struggle and feminism, of a politics of love, so to speak. The director and performers envisage the stage as a performative gesture that would experience a reinvented body, reconfigured beyond Western frameworks and norms, asking: how much transgression is involved in the act of love today?
