Festival of ancient music in Maguelone In a magical place Next edition in 2024

Next edition in 2023 in the sumptuous site of Maguelone Cathedral.

A festival dedicated to ancient music in a unique place !

Festival of ancient music in Maguelone What is it ?

The Festival of Maguelone takes place each year to enchant the end of spring with four precious concerts, given in the cathedral of the sands, lost behind its dunes hemmed with fences, and cradled by the distant presence of the sea.

It is up to the great Jordi Savall to open the ball with guitarist Xavier Díaz-Latorre and harpist Andrew Lawrence King for a mini-tour of Renaissance and Baroque Europe, followed by Les Ombres which are now the associated ensemble of the Muses en Dialogue. The ensemble will notably play works by Boismortier, Lully and Sainte-Colombe.

Harpsichordist Pierre Hantaï will then pay a moving tribute to his illustrious elder, Gustav Leonhardt, placed under the sign of their common master, Bach. Finally, the immense lutenist Hopkinson Smith will close the ban with a nice walk through France and Italy.
