Place Sainte Anne (lined with small medieval buildings) is the oldest square in Montpellier. It contains a church of the same name, which has been converted into a contemporary art exhibition space.
It is pleasant to lose oneself in this Bohemian little village, with its myriad narrow streets and timeless atmosphere.
This lovely square where life is good has numerous terraces of restaurants and cafés. If you come by summertime, the open-air music festival « Nuits de Sainte Anne » is a not-to-miss.
At 68 metres, the steeple of Sainte Anne’s bell tower is the tallest edifice in Montpellier. The church was inaugurated relatively recently in 1869, and was designed by Jean Cassan, the same architect who built Saint Roch Church.
