Description
The conference will present the life and work of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, "painter of happiness".
It will highlight his extraordinary output of paintings, drawings and watercolors, as well as the struggles and doubts that led him to change his style on several occasions.
A comrade-in-arms with other young painters, he participated with them in the creation of what would soon be known as Impressionism.
But for the rest of his life, the dissatisfied Renoir sought to find a new art form that would allow him to express his personal vision of the world, one of light and warmth, expressed with a sensual touch.
By Odile Gancédo, art historian.
