A bilingual performance in French and LSF, co-hosted by the Montpellier National Opera and Orchestra as part of World Deaf Day. The story takes place in Rubens-Alcais’s home. Eugène Rubens-Alcais lives there, while his caregiver visits him regularly to look after him. This intimate setting fosters the emergence of memories, generational confrontations, and confidences, and allows for a gradual immersion into Rubens-Alcais’s personal and historical world. This bilingual French–LSF performance blends several forms of artistic and visual expression, in keeping with Deaf culture, such as “chansigne” and “Visual Vernacular.” Born in 1984, Eugène Rubens-Alcais is a French Deaf activist in the sports sector as well as in social and political life. He co-founded the Deaflympics in 1924.
