Pézenas

Pézenas

Pézenas, located 30 minutes west of Montpellier in the Hérault Valley, has a rich heritage.

A royal town during the reign of Saint Louis, it acquired a political role in the fifteenth century by becoming the seat of the General States of Languedoc. The medieval town then expanded and prestigious architectural projects were undertaken.
Enjoy the charm of its historical centre, the mansions of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the houses of the ‘bourgeoise’, the cobbled streets and the designer boutiques.

Did you know? Pézenas is also the birthplace of the singer Boby Lapointe.

It is also the city of Molière which welcomed him many times in the mid seventeenth century. The ‘Scénovision’, is a show that will immerse you in the atmosphere of the seventeenth century, and where you can discover Molière’s whirlwind life and learn about his company, L’Illustre Theatre.
