The Château des Evêques (Bishops’ Castle) was built in the 18th century in a park planted with cypress trees, plane trees and magnolias, on the site of an old feudal castle.

The château features a remarkable fortified door, as well as a music room with ornamental plasterwork. It was the summer residence of the bishops of Montpellier, including the respected Joachim Colbert de Croissy, nephew of the great Colbert.

The park has a number of ponds including a large fish-pond, as well as a French-style garden and an orangery. Sold to the Revolution as a national asset, today it houses the Hofer-Bury museum and the Jean de la Fontaine multimedia library.
