Description
The new exhibition "Banquets méditerranéens entre Grecs, Etrusques et Gaulois" will be on show from June 5, 2026 to February 1, 2027 at the Site archéologique Lattara-musée Henri Prades of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole.
The exhibition is based on work carried out as part of the GEPRICO research project: Gallic, Etruscan and Phocaean commensal rites (funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche). The project focuses on commensal rites from the early 6th to the late 4th century BC, with a cross-cultural comparative approach involving both material evidence uncovered by archaeology (organic remains of meals of plant and animal origin, ceramic furniture) and immaterial evidence (unpublished data provided by the results of biochemical analyses and pollen content studies). In archaeology, the immaterial includes scents and flavors, materials and biological products used in the ritual of commensality, which are archaeologically invisible to the naked eye.
