Description
Fernando Costa: Le Champ du Métal, memory transformed into sculpture
With "Le Champ du Métal", the Parcelle473 museum is devoting an exhibition to Fernando Costa, a self-taught sculptor whose work explores the resistance and transformation of metallic matter.
For this project, the artist draws on a material steeped in history: fragments of old farm tractors, salvaged from their original function and transformed into sculptures and pictorial surfaces.
"Folded, assembled and put under tension, these mechanical elements marked by use and time become the components of powerful works where industrial strength meets rural memory," he continues.
Some pieces take the form of monumental sculptures, while others resemble veritable metal paintings in which fragments compose a new visual script.
"This exhibition resonates particularly with the history of the museum," emphasizes Laurent Rigail. A former wine-growing site, Parcelle473 carries with it the memory of a territory shaped by agricultural work.
By transforming mechanical relics linked to the land, Fernando Costa creates a dialogue between rural heritage and contemporary creation.
