Embark on a journey through more than 800 years of history and relive the epic story of the Babote Tower. Originally a medieval defense tower, the building became an astronomical observatory in the 18thand later a site for innovative experiments, such as those involving the parachute and Chappe’s telegraph. Today, it serves as the headquarters of the Montpellier Astronomical Society.
From the first floor, and thanks to numerous archival images, you’ll come to understand the major role this tower played in the city’s urban and scientific development. A journey between Earth and the stars that’s not to be missed.

- Please arrive 10 minutes before departure at Square de la Babote. Tram lines 3 and 4, Observatoire stop. Please present this voucher; you will be asked to show it before the tour begins.
- Free admission: children under 6 accompanied by a parent, certified guides with a license, and City Card holders.
- 1 adult accompanied by up to 1 or 2 children under 6 years old.
- Dogs of any size are not permitted on the tour, except for guide dogs.
