Description
As part of the Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier
For over thirty years now, Maria Schneider has been ploughing the furrow of vibrant, shimmering and powerfully evocative writing for big band,
where compositions unfold like tableaux or stories told in music.
With countless awards to her name - seven Grammy Awards, and even a nomination for the Pulitzer Prize - her career is studded with prestigious collaborations, including Davie Bowie himself.
For several years now, the composer and bandleader has cultivated a special relationship with the Clasijazz Big Band, an elite group made up of some of the finest musicians on the Iberian music scene.
With them, she broadens her palette to include Andalusian colors, culminating in an intense Bulería carried by the vocals of Antonio Lizana, now a leading figure in flamenco-jazz.
