Description
Young audience show as part of the Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier
Momo lives in a circus with his grandfather, the famous clown Huberto, who wants him to be a clown himself. But poor Momo doesn't like clowns. He prefers to run between the caravans, watch Bettina, the beautiful acrobat, and one day take to the skies while trying his hand at the trapeze.
He also gets help from the circus animals, his friends, who help him find his place under the big top: thanks to them, Momo will finally be who he is.
Composed by Pascal Dusapin to a text by Leigh Sauerwein, this little opera for a narrator and four musicians was first performed in Nanterre in 2002. It evokes the mysterious world of the circus with humor and poetry, and brings to life an ensemble of characters who draw us into their dreams.
The music is light-hearted, the illusion is born of nothing (a puppet for Momo, shadow puppets for the animals), Richard Dubelski does his utmost and doesn?t hesitate to dabble with the cymbalum.
And the children? They laugh uncontrollably throughout the forty-minute show.
