Description
The exhibition Plier le Temps presents a new stage in the work of artist duo Bounoure & Genevaux, whose research has focused for several years on a single question: the fold as a creative principle.
At the crossroads of painting, sculpture and installation, their approach explores how an elementary gesture - folding a surface - can generate new forms, images and spaces of perception.
In the chapelle des Pénitents Blancs in Aniane, the works unfold an immersive journey in which the fold becomes both a visual structure and a metaphor for time. Painted, reflective or translucent surfaces fragment landscape and light, inviting visitors to traverse different strata of reality.
The exhibition is structured around a monumental central installation and a series of works arranged along the nave, forming a landscape of signs and reflections. The works interact with the architecture of the site and natural light, in an approach where abstraction and figuration respond to each other.
The project is also part of a wider research program conducted by the artists around the fold, including material experiments, monumental installations and digital developments exploring the relationship between image, surface and space.
