Description
As part of the Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier
From the middle of the 19th century, from Boris Godunov to The Rite of Spring, Russian music was particularly fertile.
This concert presents a picture in three parts: the most concise version of Romeo and Juliet, with Tchaikovsky?s overture-fantasy; Prokofiev?s most crackling concerto, which the composer completed in Brittany (yes, he did!) in 1921; and the inaugural symphony by an avowed disciple of Gustav Mahler, all roughness and refinement, rich in wild percussion and melodic concentration.
Accompanied by Alexandre Kantorow, First Prize and Gold Medal winner of the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France sets the steppe on fire by inviting Jakub Hr??a, who a few years ago was its young associate conductor.
