1. CASTRIES HISTORY AND TREASURES
Castries from the Middle Ages to the 19th century
To visit Castries is to discover the history of a southern village and that of its inhabitants. Developed in the Middle Ages on a mound around the castle, which was once protected by a rampart whose remains can still be seen today, Castries underwent major transformations in the 19th century.
Church, town hall, development of the main road, the town was at the heart of major changes.
But it was Castries’ château, a remarkable example of Languedoc architecture, its French-style park designed by André Le Nôtre, and its unique aqueduct that were to make it a part of history.
This tour does not include access to the castle. Guided tour available in French and Spanish.
